Well let me tell ,i just bought a taurus 500 mag 61/2 in barrel, and its one the best high caliber gun out there. You need to hold on very good or else. The ammo out there is exspensive but do some shopping and will find good prices.

I shot about 20 rds out of the 10in model last weekend and all I can say is WOW!!! This gun rocks my world. The obvious down side to owning a 500 mag is the ammo costs. The gun shoots great and performed

Point taken Slack00. I agree that there are different weapons for different needs. I fired a Ruger Super Redhawk in .44Magnum. I still have to say...to each his own. In fact, that used to be my tag line.

Ouch thats harsh and to the point. However I do have to agree. Im buying a Smith & Wesson 460xvr later this year. Id get a 500 but I like the idea of bieng able to fire the 454 and 45 long colts for a cheaper alternative.

I agree whole heartedly with weekendfunandgun!! Rate the gun on attributes and performance. Also some people do enjoy hunting with handguns. What is the fun in sitting 200-400+ yd from your game with

if you were hunting an elephant, maybe. but like blitz said....get a rifle. im convinced that the 500 magnum only serves one purpose...to boost an ego...or for people with the napoleon complex...
