My old instructor used to say....."the time to start doing push-ups is not when you're having the heart attack." Practice, practice, practice. Have a plan in place and execute...literally and figuratively.

Couldn't agree more Moose. If it was good enough for Adolf and Bond, it's good enough for me! Love my PPK and carry it daily. If the bleeding heart pinkos I work with ever found out they'd have a stroke.

Yes it does. However, speaking from experience........It definitely beats the alternative! My father in law used to say "don't get old". Now I know what he was talking about. Crap, I hurt in parts I don't even remember how to use.

Hey Ben....I thought I was the only one that kept parts on the floor when I was breaking stuff down. LMAO. Hell, it always worked with scuba gear and that's life support equipment!! Though I guess in a way so are guns............hmmm.

I was at the freedom concert last night in Cinci and had a hard time not shedding a tear for our men and women that are in harms way, and the hardship it causes their families. God bless all of them.

Moose, what's the news from your boy over there in raghead land. I will say a soldiers' prayer for him. Combat was 42 years ago, but I remember, and would ask all to remember him when their knees hit the floor tonight. Hoorah

Viper, the recommendation given to you by Moose is good as gold! I would take his suggestion seriously and if you have any additional questions, he's the "Go To" guy on PPK/S's here on the forum and has years of experience with them.

  I smoothed and rounded off
that burr with 1,000
and then 1,200 grit wet
sandpaper...
That burr is a result of the
cold-process spring making...
[Sci-Channel:"How things R Made"]
shame on Walther and S&W...

Viper, do you have a local gunshop or gunsmith in your area? It sounds to me like you need to stop by one of them and see what they can tell you about that spring. No spring should drag across the barrel and damage it in the process. Something doesn't sound right.

  Thanks for the responses.
I'm still wondering about the very sharp end of the spring my PPK/S has that seems to drag across the barrel (leaving a tiny scratch in its wake) when I remove ... more »

Tig: Thanks for expanding on my earlier post. I to have found that certain brands of ammo leave more residue than others and it only takes a few rounds to see it start building up.

...or, as I did, send it back to S&W describing the problem and your frustration with their product. Call and complain and they'll even send a call tag (no shipping charges). However, be advised, it will be 4 - 6 weeks before it gets returned.

Unfortunately many semi auto's, especially small pocket pistols are very sensitive to fouling. I sold a small Beretta that would rarely make it to 50 rounds before it started malfunctioning. I thought ... more »
