Primer Failure

Postby pastorfarley » Sat Apr 16, 2011 6:45 pm

Had my first ever failure to fire. I tried a second strike with no success. It happened in the middle of a 50 round session and all other rounds were fine. I disassembled the round and the primer, though dented, looked normal with the anvil in place.

No unusual, keep an eye on it. It could be your firing pin thats not long enough. Are you using reloads or fact ammo?

Reloads. The firing pin dent looked solid and I had no other problems in the 50 rds, I fired 25 more recently with no issues.

It could be the Lee hand loading tool, versus the traditional press, but I don't think so. I think I just got the one in how ever many thousand that doesn't go bang.

You're fine if getting a good dent.
