Savage 64f installing swivel mount

Postby Cjsrch » Tue Jan 03, 2012 2:30 pm

I just picked up a savage 64F and was wondering if anyone has any experience in mounting a swivill. To it I know that I would have to drill into the stock and probably tap it but can anyone recommend a location to drill in and can anyone recommend what type of swivel stud and mounting hardware.

Also how do the synthetic stocks fare against cracking.(my main concern with mounting a stud in plastic that will have lateral forces applied)

This will be for a bipod mount btw, unless you think I would be better off mounting a rail to it to distribute pressure and give added Benoit of using Harris,s swilvil mount ( horizontal not side to side tilt style)
